FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What do I need to register?
A: You will need the following:

  • An email address*
  • Your NBW membership number if you wish to take advantage of the member rate (your membership number can be found on the address label on our newsletter, The Spoke'n Word, and on the Members List posted in this section of the website)
  • A credit or debit card - MC, Visa or American Express.

Q: Besides the $31.50 for members or $44 for nonmembers, are there any other charges?
A: A small servicing charge will be added to each registration. The processing charge is kept by the online service and is not passed on to NBW.

Q: Do I have to sign off on all sections of the waiver?
A:Yes - even if there are no minors riding, you must sign off on all sections of the waiver to continue with your registration.

Q: Will mail registrations be accepted?
A: No - only online registrations through imathlete.com will be accepted.

Q: Can I get a refund if I cannot ride or can I give someone else my registration?
A:There are no refunds, nor are registrations transferable.

Q: What if it rains?
A:
TFCE ride is held RAIN OR SHINE!

Q: When can I check in for the ride?
A: Registration check-in takes place at UMASS-Dartmouth from 7:00 am to 8:00 am. Port-a-potties are available at the school starting at 6:00 am. There is no food or coffee available in the morning. ALL RIDERS MUST CHECK BACK IN AT UMASS-DARTMOUTH UPON RETURN. RIDERS MUST RETURN BY 5:30 PM. RIDE SUPPORT WILL BE PROVIDED UP TO A 5:00 PM CUTOFF.

Q: How do I get to the ride start?
A:The ride start is at UMass - Dartmouth, 285 Old Westport Road, Dartmouth, MA

Directions:
Coming from the West: Take I-195 east to exit 12, or Coming from the East: Take I-195 west to exit 12A. Right onto Faunce Corner Road. Proceed south, travelling across Route 6 onto Old Westport Road. 1/2 mile from Route 6, bear right at the fork, staying on Old Westport Road. Campus is one mile on left. Follow signs for TFCE assigned parking lots.

Q: Will I need a parking permit?
A: No - parking permits will not be necessary.

Q: What about maps/cue sheets?
A: TFCE maps, GPS files and cue sheets will be available online as soon as the route has been finalized - no later than 1 week before the ride - BUT only at this website: nbwclub.org. Maps and cue sheets will NOT be available at the online service. All registered riders will be emailed to let them know when the maps become available. Maps and cue sheets will also be available at check-in on the day of the ride.

Q: What do I need to bring on the day of the ride?
A: Remember to bring your confirmation email with you to check-in. Helmets must be worn. Water bottles are a must for this long ride. Bike gloves help prevent injury to hands from long hours on the handlebars. Fruit, sandwiches (peanut butter and jelly) and water are provided at the checkpoints. If you have other preferences (sports drink, juice, etc.) be prepared to purchase items at stores along the way.

Q: When can I pick up my T-shirt?
A: T-shirts will be given to you at the completion of your ride. T-shirts are available on the day of the ride only. You will receive the size you ordered--no exchanges, no exceptions.

Q: Am I committed to doing the ride mileage I selected when I registered?
A: No - on the day of the ride you do the ride that you believe is appropriate for you. You do NOT have to let us know that you have changed your option.

*VERY IMPORTANT
If the email address you used when you registered changes, please let us know the new one, so we can update our contact information. Your new email address should be sent to tfce@nbwclub.org.

No packages will be mailed to riders by US mail - all correspondence will be handled by email.
