PARK: Monadnock Regional High School, 580 Old Homestead Highway (Rt. 32), Swanzey Center, NH [click for directions to H.S.]

REGISTRATION: 6:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the Swanzey Town Hall, 620 Old Homestead Highway (Rt. 32), Swanzey Center, NH

RIDE PLANS: Covered Bridge Century Tour is the main attraction, but also offers metric, three-quarter, half, and quarter centuries along the same route. All this along the NH, VT & MA countryside, featuring covered bridges and fall foliage. We challenge you to find a more picturesque ride in all of New England!

FOOD PLANS: Fruit and snack items at sag stops will be provided. Cyclists are to provide their own lunch if desired. Numerous restaurants and snack bars are available along the route.

LODGING: Hotels and campgrounds in the area will be glad to accommodate Century participants. Please make your own arrangements for lodging or camping. The Swanzey Lions’ Club assumes no responsibility for lodging plans, agreements, or payments for cyclists attending this event.

T-SHIRTS: A new Lions Club Covered Bridge Century Tour T-shirt may be ordered for pick up at the event. The 100% cotton shirt with our design is $20.00 if prepaid by Sept. 20 with your registration. Shirts ordered after Sept. 20, will cost $25.00 to cover mailing expenses. Sizes from "M" to "XL" may be ordered. Cost for 2XL will be $22.00.

REGISTRATION FEE: Payment includes map, cue sheet, fruit, snack items, and sag wagon services. Total cost per person for the one-day event is $15.00 prior to Sept. 20, prepaid, non-refundable. This event will be held rain or shine -- no rain dates! Registration after Sept. 20 is $20.00 and will be done at event registration.

Please send completed registration forms with payment to the Slate Covered Bridge Committee, at the address below, prior to Sept. 20. Late registrations and walk-ins, will be processed the morning of the event, on October 6.

Registration and Event Details

TIME: 7:00 a.m.

Welcome to the Swanzey Lions Covered Bridge Century Tour For Sight. In order to make the check-in process move along quickly and to help ensure that you have an enjoyable and safe day of cycling, please read the following:

  1. Please complete the registration and release form, one per person, and send with your payment in full, to the Swanzey Lions Club, c/o Susan Simonds, 49 Foxglove Lane, Swanzey Center, NH 03446, or Ruth Snyder, 164 Eaton Road, Swanzey Center, NH 03446. Checks should be made payable to the "Swanzey Lions Club". Retain this page for your reference; return only the registration form.
  2. Registration fee for this event is $15.00 per person prior to Sept. 20. Late registration will be processed at the event for $20.00 per person. Event T-shirts are optional at $20.00 if they are picked up at the event. Shirts that must be shipped, will be $25.00 to cover the shipping cost.
  3. 2002 The Covered Bridge Century Tour will be held rain or shine. There is no rain date, nor refund.
  4. The roads will be marked in a visible manner.
  5. Sag stops will be provided. There are no checkpoints except at the end of the ride.
  6. A sag stop with water and snacks will be posted at time of registration.
  7. Stop again at the Swanzey Town Hall headquarters for fruit and snacks after your Century ride. Refreshments and rest room facilities are available before, during, and after your ride.
  8. All services end promptly at 5 p.m. Please plan to be back to the Swanzey Town Hall, checked in by 5 p.m.
  9. The on-call sag wagon is available for breakdowns or serious problems, not rain or "feeling tired". Call Swanzey Town Hall at 603-352-7411. In case of accident and personal injury, call the 911 emergency number.
  10. Walk your bike over bridge sections where posted. Several railroad crossings on the route are quite dangerous, and should also be approached with caution.
  11. Please follow the rules of the road, be courteous, predictable, and wear a helmet.

Helmets are required to prevent serious head injuries.
